Visiting Britannia in AD 122, Emperor Hadrian Augustus witnessed the aftermath of the war between the Roman armies and the savage Picts. He had a gigantic wall built to shield the Roman Empire from the Picts.

In the board game Taking Hadrian's Wall, the players defend the honor of the Roman Empire. They take on the role of a Roman general in charge of building the wall and the adjacent fortress. They build and defend the fortress and the wall, attract civilians and provide entertainment.
