Okiya is an abstract two-person game created by Bruno Cathala. In the game Okiya, the players try to be the first to make four in a row (horizontal, vertical or diagonal). They also win if they manage to place their discs in a block of four (2x2).
At the start of the game Okiya there are beautiful Japanese cards with birds, trees, an orange sun etc in the middle of the table. The cards are in a grid of four by four. The first player takes away a card from the side and places a token of his color in its place. Then it is the second player's turn. He looks at the card of the first player and now has to place his disc in a place where one of the two elements returns. In this way, the choice for placing your disc is always determined by the last card removed.
Okiya is a beautiful and accessible game that lasts an average of 10 minutes.
